March 2nd through 6th at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza
Merrillville, IN. 3-1-11 – The American CueSports Indiana Associations (ACSIA) is proud to announce the 14th Annual Indiana State Pocket Billiards Championships on March 2nd through the 6th at the Radisson Hotel in Merrillville, IN.
Hundreds of pool players from Indiana League Systems will participate in various singles and team tournaments within the five-day event.
The following is the schedule of events:
Wednesday: 5pm, seniors; 6pm, Open 9-ball
Thursday: 9am, Scotch Doubles; 4pm, Single 8-ball
Friday: 6pm, team play starts and ends on Sunday at 3pm
Also on hand to “wow” the crowd will be 8-time world champion Nick Varner. Nick has appeared on ABC Wide World of Sports, NBC Sports, FOX Sports, CBS Sports and can be seen many times during the year on ESPN. Each evening Nick will demonstrate techniques needed to become a World Champion. Besides entertainment Nick will be taking challenge matches.
Tome “Dr. Cue” Rossman will be in attendance beginning Thursday evening through the course of the event to entertain all with his Artistic Trick Shot Show. The good doctor has carried the title of the World Champion Artistic Champ as well as ESPN’s World Trick Shot Champion. His show has educational benefits and is jam-packed with humor.
Tournament and professional entertainment is free to the public. The Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza will be offering food and drink specials during the entire event. There will be State Commemorative shirts on sale while supplies last. Although play is open to the public free of charge, seating is limited.
On Sunday at 10am, a special youth/adult Scotch Doubles Championship will be held. Winning youth participants receive US Saving Bonds.
The event awards are sponsored by the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority. Tournament Direction is provided by the Greater Midwest Poolplayers Association in Portage, Indiana and the 40 pool tables will be provided by Quality Table Service of Minnesota.
