  10. Fair Game

It didn’t take a wizard to see that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was going to top this weeks box office.  However, based on their previous openings, no one could have guessed that they would take in an impressive $125M on their opening weekend.  It’s no Dark Knight but it does manage to move into 6th place on the all time opening weekend behind Iron Man 2.

Megamind and Unstoppable and Due Date manage to retain their position behind the leader and the other new release this weekend, The Next Three Days, opens up at number 5.   Morning Glory drops one to number six and the Sci-Fi adventure thriller Skyline drops three to number seven.

Red moves down one to number eight and Lionsgate’s For Colored Girls gets pushed back three to number nine.

If you remember, two weeks ago I predicted Fair Game to be the surprise hit of the week.  It has finally shown up on the list and with a cast including two time Oscar Winner Sean Penn and Oscar Nominee Naomi Watts, I find that hard to believe.

Paranormal Activity 2, Saw 3D, Jackass 3D have all dropped off the list but should all do very well in second run theatres and sales and rentals when they are finally released.
