4. Classified Advertising

NWIMe.com has been developing a new feature packed classifieds section and it is ready to use.  Our classifieds section offers free classified ads in most of our sections including an auction platform for not-for-profit organizations, churches and schools.  We also offer a very inexpensive way for businesses to advertise their business as well as having a custom store that lets local businesses sell their products online.

Many people in the NWI region know who NWIMe.com is but we are still not where we would like to be yet!

There is a lot of ground to cover here so we are putting this message out to Northwest Indiana in two parts so please follow up on Saturday, June 4th 2011 to read Part 2.

We officially called it a launch as of January 1st, 2011 but have been building this idea since early 2010 and we need your help.  The five counties in Northwest Indiana that we cover are Lake, Jasper, La Porte, Porter and Newton.

NWIMe.com is brought to you by the Blurp Media Company which is in business to motivate, structure and cover the web media for many clients that have achieved great success.  We decided to bring NWIMe.com to the internet because Northwest Indiana needs the connection and we have a plan in place to be that connection!

If you take a few minutes to go through some of our sections, it is very clear what our mission is and what the three main elements are; Entertainment, Community Information and Local Business Connection and we are going to continue to build on these elements with a family friendly integrity being our cornerstone.

There are a few news and information websites in our NWI region that do a great job covering some of these things but they don’t cover it all, and they are not in one place. We feel that there is always a gap, and with your help we can be your main source for all things NWI.

We are constantly putting together new sections in our site as well as publishing new content but we could use some suggestions and some input that only YOU can give us because after all, this site is All About YOU!

As with most other media outlets, we strive to deliver interesting news in a timely fashion.  Our small staff goes out regularly and talks to and covers as many things as our schedules allow but with some local support via email, phone and our new Discussion forums, you can help spread the word to Northwest Indiana residents for things to do or to read about in relation to Entertainment, Community and Business related happenings.

In the past year we have published information for and/or covered events and press releases for organizations such as the Lake County Parks, Gary SouthShore RailCats, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Opportunity Enterprises, Indiana University Northwest, South Shore CVA, Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce and many more.

There are so many exciting things to do that are put together by a wide variety of people, organizations and businesses within Northwest Indiana and with your help we can be your source for all things NWI!  Social networking, participation and support is key to achieving our goals and we will be explaining all of this in part 2 of our message.

Life would be beautiful through the eyes of an eagle. It flies without boundaries and it flies without fear as its soars through the sky and enjoys freedom wherever its near, but at what price do we have that same privilege?

Life is filled with opportunities and many have used them to enrich our lives with things that some may take for granite but respect fills the air.

Life has its pitfalls and many of us have suffered tragedy in our lives but chance is a part of life and the feelings are to be respected.

Life does however have a word with a special meaning that we Americans and people in different cultures around the World count on. A word that should be thought about despite the good and bad that happens in our everyday lives.

Freedom!

Life was given to us by God and one day we will all understand the meaning, but one thing that should be plain to see is how we’ve been allowed to go down the paths of life that are open to us which is filled with the freedom that we depend on to go down them.

Life is to be cherished and life can be beautiful, life can be filled with joy and life can have turns, but life would be nothing without the strength and courage that our veterans were willing to submit as they’ve protected the very life that we feel we’ve earned.

Memorial Day 2011

Life shouldn’t have one particular day to remember those who have given their lives to protect the very freedom that I speak, and there shouldn’t be one particular day to give thanks to those who choose to exercise their strength and courage that give us the hope and confidence that we need to succeed, but a holiday it certainly should be.

To those I say Thank You, and to those I say God Bless.

Let us honor our Veterans on this Memorial Day and keep those who gave their lives in our memories until the day we meet again.

We sometimes do not realize the bond that was created the moment we took our first breath. When we are hungry or sad, sick or glad, proud or mad, or if we need a little confidence to get through the day, a Mother is always there.

Sometimes we can give her a hand, and sometimes she is in our heart, sometimes she could use our confidence, and sometimes could use a new start. Sometimes we meant to say I’m sorry, and sometimes we should have given her a little more of our time, and sometimes we forget how important she is which truly is a crime. Sometimes she is here and sometimes she is there, sometimes we should just say I love you but Mother’s Day is a day that we should at least give thanks and remember the things that we’ve shared.

Is it really a mystery, the things I say? It’s not hard to figure out that we need to think about our Mother on this very special day.

NWIMe.com, 4-6-2011 – As our viewers may have noticed, our Classifieds and Business Directory has been down for about a week. We weren’t anticipating such a long downtime but be it as it is, we can proudly say that we have made some changes to the design as well as added many new feature enhancements that will hopefully be a big success in the eyes of our members. We are confident!

We would love to share these changes with everybody, but we have done that in the past with a few things around here which proved to be a negative decision on our part for eyes that shouldn’t be seeing it until it was ready to go.

We will say however,  if you were impressed with the way it was before, you are in for a big treat! We have not only changed our pricing structure, but also aimed towards a new target audience and member base in which the site needed in our opinion to forge in to the future of what the NWIMe.com site is all about.

Enough about that for now!

We will be re-opening the section no later than Monday, April 11th and the member ads that were currently in place will resume and emails and phone calls will go out to the current members explaining how to manage their existing accounts. We will also issue a formal release when we are back up to list the changes and a full list of changes that were made along with the benefits of either staying, or becoming a member.

To Our Business Connect Members:

It has been a busy year for us getting things in place and we have put a few things on pause until this new section was complete which we have been working on for several months. Again, we are saving the details for when we re-launch this new section but we promise that it will be worth your while to see what our plans for you are!

We appreciate the patience that our members have had and we can only say that….It will only get better from here!

Using the map is easy. Just move your pointer to an area where you would like some more detail and roll your mouse wheel to zoom in or out. You can also use the controls in the upper left hand corner to move and zoom. You can choose from a map view, a satellite view to see an actual aerial view of the course, a combination of map and satellite or a terrain view. As Northwest Indiana is not known for its mountainous terrain, the last option does not show much more than the actual map view.

Each little green golfer is the location of a course and you can mouse over it to see the name of the course or click on it to open a detail box with the address and phone number.

As we explained in Part 1, we have made some changes and are confident that people will find them useful and entertaining. In addition, we have a list of new features that are about to launch that we would like to outline for you.

• Community Connect

We have changed our Community Info to Community Connect. This was a planned category change that is a vital a part of the entire Connection that we have had in mind since day one.

Like our slogan says; “Keeping Northwest Indiana Connected” and we intend to do just that! You will find many sources of Community Information within this category including a quick reference to some very important things such as, Emergency Numbers, Local Zip Codes, NWI Local Schools, Hospitals and much more. Have a look!

• Things To Do

This is another category change that we have made that focuses on people having a quick reference to local entertainment sources such as Family Fun, Sports, Music Venues, NWI Movie Theatres and more! You will find popular attractions in there such as Deep River Waterpark, U.S Steel Yard (Home of the Gary SouthShore RailCats), Star Plaza Theatre and we with more to come soon.

What’s coming next?

January 2011 is a great time for us here. We are unleashing a few goodies that we are confident that people will approve of such as:

City Connect

We are going further in to the connection stream. We currently have different information that can either be viewed by County or by our Region but we are digging deeper!

We have put together one of the final parts to the NWIMe.com Connection and you will be seeing it next week! We will be featuring a city by city view of what is going on in a particular city. This is a big process but we are going to stay on it until we get it right!

We will announce the details when we launch this section, but we are very excited to be putting this in to gear!

• Our Video Community

We are proud to say that we are approaching 19,000 views at the videos that we have in our Video Community and we are just getting started!

We are currently making modifications to add more features as well as a new look!

Next week also starts the launch for our new Coupon Connect which will be excellent for the community we feel. We will be searching the NWI Region and getting local businesses and organizations involved to display their specials and offers that will save you money, or to offer a good way to do something with your family and/or friends at a discounted price.

There are many other things that the future will bring to NWIMe.com. There may be some things that we just don’t want to share until they are ready to go, but we will say this, after the results that we’ve experienced in our 2010 trial year… We are here to stay, thanks to you Northwest Indiana!
