Drop off your ugliest lamp for your chance to win a leg lamp!
HAMMOND IN. – Win your very own leg lamp from the holiday movie classic, A Christmas Story. Entries for the ugliest lamp competition are being accepted now through November 30th at the Indiana Welcome Center (7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond). Lamps can be dropped during normal business hours; Monday through Sunday from 8am to 5pm.
In the 1983 holiday film, Mr. Parker wins a leg lamp as a “major award” from a contest in the newspaper. Mr. Parker proudly displays the lamp in the family’s living room window until Mrs. Parker accidentally breaks it. Leg lamps have been a popular feature of the movie ever since.
Visitors will vote on the ugliest lamp in each category to determine the winners from December 1st through the 31st. Winners will be notified by phone. Entries will be displayed until January 9th and can be claimed January 10th – 17th from 8am to 5pm.
The Ugly Lamp Contest is part of the exhibit “A Christmas Story Comes Home” at the Indiana Welcome Center from November 1st to January 9th.
