Donations can be made from March 21 to April 1
Gary, IN. 3-1-11 – Indiana University alumni once again will launch a book drive to benefit organizations in Northwest Indiana beginning March 21 and ending April 1 as part of IU Cares Month activities throughout the state. Book donations may be deposited at participating Strack and Van Til and Centier Bank locations.
On Saturday, April 9, the IU Alumni Association Lakeshore Region Chapter, the IU Northwest Alumni Association, the Neal-Marshall Club of Northwest Indiana, and the IU Northwest Student Alumni Association will come together at IU Northwest to sort through the books and box them for distribution. Last year, thousands of books were collected as part of this effort and were distributed to schools, shelters and other organizations in need of reading materials.
Area organizations that would be interested in receiving some of the books collected through IU Cares may contact IU Northwest Alumni Relations Director Paulette LaFata-Johnson at (219) 980-6769. For more information on IU Cares Month, visit the Web at alumni.indiana.edu/iucares.
