WHAT:
Two notable collections of American documents and photographs will be on display in February at Indiana University Northwest. The exhibition entitled, ‘Freedom: A History of US’ will be located on campus in the Savannah Center lobby.
A reception to celebrate the exhibit will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15 in the Savannah Center lobby.
Visitors to IU Northwest will be able view reproductions of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Emancipation Proclamation, manuscript letters from George Washington and Fredrick Douglas, type-written speeches from Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Martin Luther King, Jr. and more.
‘Freedom: A History of US’ is comprised of 48 freestanding panels and divided into several thematic sections including: The Founding Era, Young Republic, The Nation Dividing: The Firebell in the Night, The Union Threatened: The Union Preserved, Emancipation, and Epilogue.
The exhibition documents and illustrates the importance of people and events that trace the evolving principle of freedom from the nation’s founding until 1968.
