GARY, IN. 5-31-2010 — The start of the Gary SouthShore RailCats six-game homestand will have to wait a day as the ‘Cats and Winnipeg Goldeyes were postponed Monday afternoon at U. S. Steel Yard with a steady rain hammering Northwest Indiana.
The two clubs now will open their three-game series Tuesday at 6 p.m. with a pair of seven inning games. The doubleheader will be the first of the year in the Northern League. Fans holding tickets to today’s game can redeem those for a ticket to any future RailCats game at the U. S. Steel Yard Box Office.
The RailCats are expected to send right-hander Brandon Magee (0-2, 6.55 ERA) in game one and left-hander Brad Halsey (1-1, 0.00 ERA) in the nightcap. Winnipeg will counter with Mark Holliman (2-0, 0.68 ERA) in the first game and southpaw Chris Salamida (1-1, 2.77 ERA) in game two. Both games will be broadcast live on 89.1 FM, The Lakeshore, and on the web at www.railcatsbaseball.com.
Tuesday is still Bark in the Park Day at U. S. Steel Yard, with dogs admitted with their owners to see the twinbill. It’s also the first Tuesday Kids Day of the Year, with members of the RailCats Reading Club getting free admission. Plus, check out a one-of-a-kind performance from the Ghost Riders, a team of spider moneys, riding on dogs, herding sheep!
