Gary SouthShore RailCats BaseballWINNIPEG, Manitoba – 6-22-2010 In need of a starter for the second game of a three-game series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes tonight at Canwest Park, the Gary SouthShore RailCats have signed right-hander Nolan Nicholson to a contract, bringing back the pitcher who spent most of Spring Training with the team.

Nolan Nicholson - Gary SouthShore RailCatsNicholson, 23, brings limited professional experience into tonight’s start, having made one previous start in the fledgling Continental League in 2009 and pitching in just six independent professional games over the last two years. Nicholson is slated to throw his first Northern League pitch tonight at 7 p.m. as the RailCats (17-14) look to make it back-to-back wins over the Goldeyes (17-13) following Monday’s 2-1 victory. Left-hander Chris Salamida (3-2, 3.26 ERA) will start for Winnipeg and the game will be broadcast live on 89.1 FM, The Lakeshore, and online at www.railcatsbaseball.com.
