RailCats Return to Gary for Six Starting July 23

Steel Yard to host a six game homestand versus the Lake County Fielders and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks starting Friday, July 23 at 7 p.m. at U. S. Steel Yard. MONEY GIVEAWAY/FIREWORKS FRIDAY/FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS: FRIDAY, JULY 23 @ 7 P.M. – If you missed the last one, you have no excuse this time to miss getting paid to come to a baseball game as the RailCats will be giving away envelopes of cash to the first 1,000 fans to enter U. S. Steel Yard with five lucky fans walking away with $100 courtesy NIEMI Associates and Indiana 105. Every Friday at U. S. Steel Yard is Fireworks Friday so stick around after the game for an exciting fireworks show sponsored by First Midwest Bank and The Post-Tribune. Also, join the RailCats in celebrating Great Moments in Boxing and MMA History with special appearances by MMA fighters from Hoosier Fight Club who will be greeting fans and signing autographs.

BAT GIVEAWAY/GIRL SCOUT SLEEPOVER NIGHT: SATURDAY, JULY 24 @ 6 P.M. – U. S. Steel Gary Works and The Post Tribune are proud to present Hoosier Bat Giveaway for the first 1,000 kids entering U. S. Steel Yard. These wood bats are great for playing in the backyard or collecting autographs, but please remember to bring your own sharpies.  It’s also girls’ night out at The Steel Yard, as the RailCats welcome hundreds of Girl Scouts from around Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland to the ballpark to spend the night. It only starts with the game, which is followed by a Question-and-Answer session with RailCats players and coaches, a bonfire for making s’mores, camping out in the outfield, a special feature movie on the video board plus breakfast in the morning.

X-MAS IN JULY/CHECKBOOK COVER GIVEAWAY/RASCAL’S BOISTEROUS BRUNCHFEST: SUNDAY, JULY 25 @ 2 P.M. – There won’t be snow on the field, but there will be in the seats as the RailCats welcome Santa, err, Rusty Claus to U. S. Steel Yard, and he’ll be bringing gifts to all the good little boys and girls in the crowd. The first 1,000 fans entering the gates on this night will receive a free RailCats checkbook cover courtesy Wayne Hummer Wealth Management. Back for a second summer, the RailCats will hold a delicious pancake breakfast – and pancake eating contest – before the game from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Rascal will be the host for the event that will include more lunch appropriate food options in addition to pancakes and every ticket to Rascal’s Boisterous Brunchfest comes with a seat at the game!

DOLLAR MONDAY/SOCCER NIGHT: MONDAY, JULY 26 @ 7 P.M. – On Dollar Mondays all summer long, get $1 hot dogs, popcorn, pop, programs, merchandise and more throughout the park. Remember when you buy one full-price ticket, the second will cost you just One Dollar! While the World Cup may have ended a few weeks ago, the RailCats will celebrate this momentous event with special ticket discounts for soccer teams and leagues. Also, anyone wearing a soccer jersey to the game will receive $2 off admission to U. S. Steel Yard.

NEGRO LEAGUES APPRECIATION/SOFTBALL NIGHT/PICTURE PACK GIVEAWAY/RUSTY BANK GIVEAWAY: TUESDAY, JULY 27 @ 6 P.M. – Honor former Negro Leagues stars in attendance as the RailCats help raise money for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, the official charity of the Northern League. The ‘Cats also welcome all area softball teams with a special fundraiser opportunity, a postgame hitting contest and a chance to meet the Indiana AA State Softball Champion Wheeler Bearcats! The ‘Cats will also be handing out Picture Packs to the first 1,000 fans entering the ballpark sponsored by Great Lakes Orthopedics. RailCats in the July 27 edition include: Andy Shipman and Jay Pecci and both will be available before the game to sign autographs! In addition, the first 400 kids entering the gates at U. S. CHICAGOLAND HOOPS FEST/BIKE NIGHT/SINGLES NIGHT/WET YOUR WHISTLE WEDNESDAY: WEDNESDAY, JULY 28 @ 7 P.M. – NBA great Darryl Dawkins aka “Chocolate Thunder” will be on hand to sign autographs and greet fans to help the RailCats celebrate Chicagoland Hoops Fest. Dawkins was the first player to go straight from high school to the NBA and is also known for shattering two backboards in 1979 prompting the NBA to switch to breakaway rims. Complete with a bike showcase outside the stadium before the game and a special bike parade on the concourse, Bike Night is the perfect night to show off your ride. Looking for love? Well the RailCats are looking to help you find that special someone with Singles Night. There will be a mixer in the Diamond Club giving you a chance to meet area singles and who knows, you could even meet the ONE!
